These are the 5 things I did #wheninlondon:
1. FRESH COCONUT WATER
WHERE? Oxford street & Woodstock W11
During our first day in London, we decided to go shopping in Oxford & Regent Street. We would’ve loved to have gone to Carnaby Street, but unfortunately we didn’t, because we consumed a lot of time at Victoria Secret. After shopping like two mad women, we were looking for the perfect snack, and boy… did we find a good one: ’fresh coconut water’. My travel buddy bought herself one immediately – healthy and refreshing!
2. CUPCAKE BAKERY:
WHERE? The Piazza, Covent Garden
I’m not a big cupcake fan, but I couldn’t resist this time. While looking for a photography pop-up shop (which we didn’t find) at Covent Garden Market, we stumbled accross the ’Cupcake Bakehouse’. We couldn’t help ourselves and decided to try some. I went for my all time favorite (not that I’ve tried that many) – the ‘red velvet’ cupcake. A bit too sweet for my taste, but that surely won’t be a problem for a real sweet tooth!
3. MAKE UP DOLLS
WHERE? Spitalfields Market: 16 Horner Square, Spitalfields
Last time I went to London, I discovered the ‘Spitalfields Market’ – where you can find lovely gadgets, original gifts and handmade goodies. One thing I do each time I go, is filling up on my make-up stock, because there’s just so much more to find here! That’s exactly what I wanted to do once again, so we made a stop at the Benefit Cosmetics shop. As a girly graphic designer, you just got to love their retro packages!
On our way back home, we both left with beautiful red pouts… dreaming away. Just lovely!
4. NAIL ART:
WHERE? 216 Oxford Street
There hasn’t been one time I didn’t go to TopShop while being on London. I especially love their ‘beauty corner’, where you can get yourself pampered from head to toe. Getting a new haircut, braids or new hairextensions, a piercing, tattoo or a spray tan,… they have it all for a total make over!
I decided to get some nail art instead, because I’m pretty bad at polishing my nails myself. I went for a red/black pattern and my travel buddy got a somewhat more complicated aztec design. The result was just stunning! Perfect for that extra little touch to complete your outfit and dive into the London nightlife!
5. THE BLUES KITCHEN:
On sunday we decided to go to the Camden market and have lunch at ‘The Blues Kitchen’, which a friend recommended. I really enjoyed the interior and loved the leather seats. They had a bar filled with plenty of (whiskey) bottles, a stage in the back where you can get your groove on later in the evening and a menu with different kinds of delicious grills. I went for the ‘Blues Kitchen Chili Dish’ and the oh-so-yummy ‘Oreo milkshake’ as dessert. (NOTE: drink the milkshake with two… you just can’t handle one by yourself!) I’d surely love to go back and see how this bar/restaurant transforms at night!
